How to Apply PAN card online- Know Application Process

Applying for a PAN Card has become easier now, it can be applied offline as well as online. For applying for a new PAN Card, form 49A needs to be filed. For the offline application, you can download the form 49A from here, and for the online application, you can follow the below procedure. Here in this post, you will get the knowledge of How to Apply PAN Card Online.

How to Apply PAN Card online

The department has made the process of online application very simple, it can be applied through the NSDL portal, the steps for apply PAN Card online is here-

Step 1- Visit the NSDL Website (https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html) or Click Here to Visit.

Step 2- Select the application type- New PAN- Indian Citizen (Form 49A)

Step 3- Select the Category from the following- (As mentioned at the portal)

  • Individual
  • Association of Persons
  • Body of Individuals
  • Company
  • Trust
  • Limited Liability Partnership
  • Firm
  • Government
  • Hindu Undivided Family
  • Artificial Judicial Person
  • Local Authority

Step 4- Fill the required details for Applicant Information-

  • Title
  • Last Name/Surname
  • First Name
  • Middle Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Email Id
  • Mobile No.

Step 5– Enter the Captcha Code and submit the form, after that you will get a message regarding the next step.

Step 6- Click on “Continue with PAN Application Form” Button.

Step 7- You will be redirected to a new page, which needs to be filled for applicant information (Digital e-KYC)

Step 8- In “Personal Details” fill the required details.

Step 9- In “Contact and Other Details” fill the required details.

Step 10- In “AO Code” enter your area code, AO type, and other details in this part. You can also find your AO Code details from the given option.

Step 11- The “last part” of the PAN Online Application is to submit “documents details”, which includes proof of identity, proof of address, proof of date of birth.

Step 12- You will get to see your completed form to correction if any, if you do not want to make any change, click the proceed button.

Step 13- After Proceed you will be directed to the payment page, where you can make payment using net-banking/debit/credit card or through demand draft.

Step 14- Once the payment is made, you will get an acknowledgment slip having 16 digits no.

Step 15- Take a Print out of Acknowledgement form.

Step 16- Affixed 2 recent passport size photographs and signed the form in the space provided on the acknowledgment form.

Step 17- Enclose following documents-

  • Acknowledgment form
  • Proof of identity
  • Proof of address
  • Proof of address
  • Demand draft (If payment is not made online)

Note- All the above documents (Except demand draft, if any) need to be self-attested and duly stamped (if required).

Step 18- Post the envelope to the NSDL Address as given below-

How to Apply PAN Card online

On Successful processing of the application, PAN will be generated and sent to the address mentioned in the application.

The Fee charged by the department is Rs. 110 for a PAN card that needs to be dispatched to an Indian address and the fee for a PAN Card that needs to be dispatched outside India is Rs. 1020/- (Including GST).

    When applying for a new PAN card, you have to submit some documents as proof of identity (e.g.- aadhar card, DL, passport), proof of address (e.g.- identity card, post office passbook), and proof of date of birth (e.g.-Matriculation certificate or Mark sheet of recognized board). Supporting documents may differ from applicant to applicant, it depends on the status of the person under Income Tax.
